IH Registry Neuro-Imaging Library Surpasses 4000 Images; Two New Studies Underway
Sept 30, 2009—The Neuro-Imaging Library, a joint project of the IH Registry and the Neuro-Radiology Department at Oregon Health & Science University, has now collected more than 4000 imaging studies from patients with chronic IH enrolled in the IH Registry.
Founded in 2007, the Neuro-Imaging Library contains MR, X-Ray and CT imaging, as well as shunt-o-grams. It is the only imaging library of its kind in the world.
The Neuro-Imaging Library’s purpose is to enable researchers to examine imaging studies of chronic IH patients’ brains and skulls for changes related to intracranial hypertension. Such information could answer questions about the physical progression of IH, and the development of such things as an empty sella or a Chiari malformation. It may also lead to earlier diagnosis and improved treatment, and could help in the development of non-invasive pressure measurement methods.
Two new neuro-imaging studies, utilizing the Library’s collection and data from the IH Registry, are currently underway.
